In light of recent newspaper reporting of fines imposed on local school district board members by the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC), it reminds us all that from time to time it is important to review the laws in place for public officials including elected school board members, appointed Superintendents and other cabinet level officers. At the C.A.S.H. Pre-Conference Workshop at the Fall Conference, a presentation was made by Mark Kelley, Dannis Woliver and Kelley, on this topic. A link to that presentation is available here.
The rules for reporting for local officials are not new, however, cost reporting thresholds are low and therefore are overlooked inadvertently. C.A.S.H. is committed to providing information whenever necessary to school districts, their Boards and superintendents, to assist them in governing and managing school districts effectively.
