SESSION OVERVIEW
The Division of the State Architect provides design and construction oversight for K–12 schools, community colleges, and various other state-owned and leased facilities. The Division also develops accessibility, structural safety, historical building codes, and standards utilized in various public and private buildings throughout the State of California.

SAB Meeting Nov. 25; Next C.A.S.H. Day Dec. 10

We have been informed by the Office of Public School Construction that the next State Allocation Board (SAB) meeting is now scheduled for Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 10 am.  At this time, there is no SAB meeting planned for December.

The next C.A.S.H. General Membership meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, December 10, 2014 from 11:00 am to 12:15 pm.  The meeting will be held at 1130 K Street, Room TBD.  There is no SAB meeting scheduled for this day.  This was the day originally noticed for an SAB meeting in the last Board agenda.

The minutes from the August 20, 2014 meeting were approved unanimously.

 

Executive Officer Statement

Lisa Silverman provided updates on the following:

–          Status of Fund Releases – The State Treasurer’s Office held a general obligation bond sale on October 7, 2014, and the School Facility Program received $73 million as anticipated in the August Priority Funding Apportionment item, which provided apportionments worth $100.2 million for 34 projects in 21 school districts.  Districts that received an apportionment must submit a valid Fund Release Authorization (Form SAB 50-05) by Tuesday, November 18, 2014.

C.A.S.H. Accepting Applications for 2015-16 School Facilities Leadership Academy

The School Facilities Leadership Academy is a partnership between C.A.S.H. and the Fiscal Crisis and Management Assistance Team (FCMAT).  CSFLA is an educational program designed to develop current and future leaders in the school facilities and maintenance arena.  The CSFLA is a rigorous program with course study both in and outside of the classroom.  Students will learn from the leaders in all facets of school facilities planning, funding, design, construction and maintenance.  Students also benefit from peer-to-peer learning, with individual and group projects throughout the year.   Each participant is matched with a mentor to guide them in the learning process.

 This program is offered every other year with the next Academy beginning in March of 2015.  Click here to view the Application.
