Today the State Allocation Board (Board) met to hear a number of items, including a selection of appeals and a request for an expedited apportionment as a result of wildfires.
Executive Officer Statement
In her Executive Officer statement, Lisa Silverman provided the following updates:
- Paradise Unified School District – Due to losses in the recent wildfires, the Office of Public Statproject previously scheduled for unfunded approval on this agenda, making cash available to the District immediately. The Board members discussed their role in helping school districts rebuild after a disaster and asked that the larger issue be agendized for further discussion at a future meeting.
- Priority Funding Apportionments – Of the 226 projects receiving an Apportionment at the October 24, 2018 meeting, 204 are required to submit a Fund Release Authorization (Form SAB 50-05) to OPSC by close of business Tuesday, January 22, 2019.
- Current Priority Funding Round – The current filing period began on November 14, 2018 and will close on December 31, 2018. Requests will be valid from January 1, 2019 through June 30, 2019.
- Upcoming Joint Agency Workshops – OPSC and the Education Audit Appeals Panel are conducting free workshops to provide information to Certified Public Accountants and schools regarding the new local audit requirements. Three additional workshops are scheduled in January.
