ASSOCIATE MEMBERS: URGENT ACTION NEEDED TODAY TO PROTECT THE SCHOOL FACILITY PROGRAM FROM RADICAL CHANGES
The State School Facility Program (SFP) is under attack. We need your immediate action to protect the SFP and state matching funds. Governor Newsom’s Department of Finance (DOF) is proposing amendments to AB 48 which would effectively end the current SFP. The amendments would also:
- Reduce access to Developer Fees,
- Create a new untested, unproven allocation system for New Construction and Modernization,
- Stop accepting new applications for New Construction and Modernization until all Proposition 51 funds have been expended – which means for at least the next two years
- Make many other changes all of which create uncertainty and no assurance that projects will be funded.
Please call your State Assembly Members and State Senators (click here to find your representatives) with the following message:
My firm works with public school districts to build and repair schools. I oppose the DOF proposed amendments to AB 48 that would effectively end the SFP and reduce, if not stop, a number of school facility projects that are needed and will provide work for my firm and my employees.
I support AB 48 by Assembly Member O’Donnell and ask you to contact Speaker Rendon and President pro Tempore Atkins to support the current successful SFP and Assembly Member O’Donnell’s SFP amendments.
Please call Governor Newsom’s Office, (916) 445-2841, with this message:
My firm works with public school districts to build and repair schools. I oppose the DOF proposed amendments to AB 48 that would effectively end the SFP and reduce, if not stop, a number of school facility projects that are needed and will provide work for my firm and my employees.
I support AB 48 by Assembly Member O’Donnell to support the current successful SFP and Assembly Member O’Donnell’s amendments.
I urge you not to make radical changes to the successful SFP that has worked for students, teachers and my community.
