The State Allocation Board (Board) met on Wednesday, March 21st for a brief meeting to approve the Consent Calendar, and the only item on the agenda was the Consent Calendar, which includes the Priority Funding Apportionments. The following is a summary of the Executive Officer’s statement.
Executive Officer’s Statement
Charter School Facilities Program Workshops
The Office of Public School Construction (OPSC), California School Finance Authority (CSFA), and the California Department of Education (CDE) will hold a joint agency workshop in Sacramento in the Spring of 2018 (specifics to be announced). The workshop is for applicants that currently have a Preliminary Charter School Apportionment (PCSA), and walk through the process of converting from a PCSA to an adjusted grant.
Priority Funding Apportionments
The Consent Agenda includes $191 million in priority funding apportionments for 90 projects. All projects that are receiving an Apportionment will be required to submit a Fund Release Authorization containing an original signature by Tuesday, June 19, 2018. If a district does not meet this deadline, the project will be given an occurrence and will receive a new Unfunded Approval date of June 19, 2018. If a second occurrence is received, the project will be rescinded without further action by the Board.
Career Technical Education Facilities Program
OPSC received 176 applications for the Career Technical Education Facilities Program (CTEFP). OPSC is currently processing CTEFP applications and anticipates presenting them for Board approval as early as the May State Allocation Board meeting, but no later than the June meeting. As a reminder, applications for the fifth CTEFP funding cycle are due to CDE on October 31, 2018, and due to OPSC on February 15, 2019.
Next State Allocation Board Meeting
No announcement made at this time, but will be in the near future.
The Consent Agenda was approved.
