Budget Update: Senate and Assembly Take Up Budget Bill
After the Budget Conference Committee ironed out the differences between the Senate and Assembly versions of the budget, the Assembly and the Senate will vote on the final version of the budget today to meet the June 15th Constitutional deadline to pass the State Budget.
The Governor has made a commitment to sell $1.5 billion in Proposition 51 bonds to fund projects, but it is not required that this commitment be part of the budget. With regard to CASH’s budget priorities, the final version of the budget bill includes 8 new Office of Public School Construction (OPSC) staff positions in anticipation of increased processing of Proposition 51 projects. The specific language on the Full-Day Kindergarten proposal will be addressed in the Budget Trailers bills which will be heard in the Senate and Assembly early next week.

More information will be forthcoming on these and other key issues for the school facilities and maintenance community as they occur.
