CASH has recently completed an update of the CASH Facility Inspection Tool (FIT) Guidebook, and this workshop will use this resource as a tool to focus on how you can get your share of your district's LCAP funding to support your school maintenance program.

Under the LCAP, the Deferred Maintenance Program and funding (averaged about $250 million annual) are no longer earmarked for school maintenance. School maintenance departments must now actively make the case for funding through their district's LCAP process. The Williams requirement to maintain schools in "Good Repair" has been incorporated into the LCAP's "Priority 1/Basic Services" which gives school maintenance departments a basis upon which to make the case for adequate funding, but does not give additional guidance or standards concerning the specifics of how to achieve "Good Repair." This workshop will focus on how school maintenance departments can successfully navigate their LCAP process to ensure they have adequate resources to keep schools clean, safe, functional, and healthy.

The updated CASH FIT Guidebook also includes additional resources and recommended best management practices for the many new state requirements that have been introduced since the first CASH FIT Guidebook was released in 2007. This workshop will also provide updates on these maintenance hot topics, including brand new information about AB 746 which was just signed into law, and requires testing of school potable water to ensure that it does not contain lead.

If you work in a school facility or maintenance department or do business with them, this is a workshop you cannot afford to miss.
