The California Department of Education, School Facilities Planning Division will discuss the purposes and components of a Facilities Master Plan and Educational Specifications. The California Code of Regulations, Title 5, requires that educational specifications be submitted to CDE prior to submitting preliminary plans for the design and construction of school facilities and as a condition of final plan approval by CDE.

 

“Ed Specs” should form the basis for budgeting future capital improvements, justifying the collection of developer fees, and defining which facilities are needed to support the district’s educational program. An architect will discuss how the architect uses the Ed Specs to design the school. The afternoon will focus on the components and procedures for developing a demographic study and how to utilize enrollment projections to maximize eligibility for the State School Facility Program.

 

The workshop will include the following:

• Facilities Master Plan and Educational Specification

• Mapping requirements, components, and process

• Collecting Statistics

• Helpful hints to obtain CDE approval of Educational

• Enrollment Projections Specifications and final plans

• Student yield rate
