About the C.A.S.H. Spring Conference

This year’s Spring Conference theme is assisting LEA’s during challenging fiscal times.

The State Agency and Legislative Updates that have become an integral part of the Spring Conference agenda will be of even greater importance to attendees this year, in light of the current fiscal environment. Representatives from the following state agencies will update attendees on Tuesday morning, providing the latest information on the issues that are crucial to the school facilities community.

  • CDE/School Facilities Planning Division
  • Department of Toxic Substances Control
  • Division of the State Architect
  • Office of Public School Construction
  • State Allocation Board

In addition to our state agencies, attendees will also hear from members of the C.A.S.H. Legislative Advisory Committee and staff on current school facilities legislation and regulations.

Another successful element of our Spring Conference agenda is our afternoon breakout sessions. These sessions have proven to be an effective educational format at the Spring Conference. This year’s conference will have two one-hour breakouts on Tuesday afternoon: one session will focus on Bid Documents and the other on Public Works Contracting. Each session will be repeated so that attendees will have the opportunity to attend both.

Back by popular demand, School Construction 101/201 will be presented in a three-hour presentation on Wednesday morning. Recreated from the ground up, this revamped and reenergized edition of the Annual Conference classic construction “how to” series promises to engage, inform, and entertain both the experienced and the novice alike. School Construction 101 and 201 will each have four to seven topics/ issues/dilemmas related to pertinent construction components. Panels will have representatives from key fields involved in school construction, including an architect, construction manager, lawyer and a school district representative. Topics will be addressed by each panelist in an interactive format that allows for audience participation and engagement and encourages discussion of “real” issues and useful outcomes.  The ever-so-popular economist, Nancy Sidhu, will be back to update attendees on California economics at Tuesday’s lunch.

As we know, one of the most important aspects of our conferences is the networking. We will again have a reception on Tuesday evening that will allow attendees to mingle and network. We look forward to having our conference hosted by many of our generous associate members. If you would like to sponsor the conference, please contact Heidi Wadsworth at (916) 448-8577 or hwadsworth@m-w-h.com or click here for the sponsor form.
