State and Federal Proposals for K-12 Facilities Workshop

SACRAMENTO Tuesday, January 27, 2009 Doubletree Hotel ONTARIO 2200 E. Holt Blvd., Ontario The state budget crisis continues to worsen and will have immediate (including the current year) and longer
term implications for school facilities funding. This special C.A.S.H. half-day workshop will describe the federal
stimulus proposals, the major state budget proposals, and the implications that they have on K-12 school facilities. Deferred maintenance funding and a state infrastructure economic stimulus package are part of the State Budget
restructuring discussions. Discussion of the federal government economic stimulus package will include when those federal funds might be
allocated in California, who might be eligible, what the funds may be spent on, and how school districts can access
those funds, if they are provided. The workshop will conclude with a description and analysis of the current status of state school facilities bond
funds, how long those funds are anticipated to last, and what might be included in an anticipated 2010 state school
facilities bond.
