Please join us on Wednesday, February 3 for a webinar on "Implications of Going Green for M&O Departments."
Speakers:
Joe Dixon, Santa Ana USD
Steve Plaxco, Yuba City USD
Russell Driver, Newcomb Anderson McCormick
Description:
Many school districts are interested in incorporating energy efficiency and energy generating features in their schools to reduce long-term operational costs and create healthier and more sustainable learning environments. For M&O departments, this trend poses both opportunities and challenges. One example of both the opportunity and challenge posed by "going green" is the strong interest that schools have shown in solar technology. Specifically, solar technology has the potential to generate clean energy to reduce operating costs and create a healthier environment, but also can pose specific challenges for M&O departments as they will now be responsible for maintaining new and more complex systems, will increasingly participate in the commissioning process to ensure that energy saving and/or generation systems operate at peak efficiency over time, and will face the increasing problems of the vandalism or theft of these types of systems. This webinar will focus on both the opportunities and the potential challenges for M&O departments as their schools consider going green.
