The final year of the Proposition 39 program is upon us. Want to get the most bang for the buck in this final year? This workshop will share practical ways to reach Zero Net Energy (ZNE) goals by incorporating these concepts into planning for repairing, modernizing and constructing buildings.

Right now California is moving to position our state as a global leader on global climate change. School district facilities will be used to score greater energy efficiency in public buildings beyond the installation of efficient lighting and HVAC. Zero net energy or (ZNE) – the point at which you are generating as much energy as you are using annually – is more attainable than ever for schools as Proposition 39 funding for school eligible energy measures and installations is now available along with SFP modernization funding through Proposition 51.

This workshop is for school districts that want to lower their electricity bills through deeper retrofits and renewable power – and how to get the most out of these systems by maintaining them over time. District facility personnel, leadership, energy efficiency and renewable consultants, energy service companies, planners, commissioning agents, architects, and construction managers learn how to incorporate ZNE into your school facility planning process and get an update on funding sources such as Prop 39 and Prop 51.

What would you do with the savings on your district’s electricity bill? How would you share that news with your students, teachers and community? How can your planned or already completed solar project be scored to meet local and state goals for ZNE?

District presenters will share case studies of projects in operation and in planning. Attendees will also receive an update on Proposition 51 the latest actions to move school district facility funding under the statewide school bond and recent movement on the Proposition 39 encumbrance deadline extension for budget year 2017-18. Learn how this proposed extension will mean more time to plan and execute ZNE goals on all or part of your district.
