REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP)
FROM ARCHITECTURAL FIRMS

Interested architectural firms are invited to respond to the RFP by addressing the questions and request for information.

All RFP's must include the following:

  1. A list of all current school district clients showing the name, location, type, and dollar value of construction for each facility project undertaken during the last six (6) years.
  2. Related project experience.
  3. A synopsis of the firm's staff, training, experience, and organizational structure.

All RFP's should include the following:

  1. A contact person for the project or Principal-In-Charge.
    Project Team and availability of resources.
  2. A presentation brochure with illustrations, photographs, etc. of school district projects.
  3. A client reference list to include: name, position and telephone number.
  4. Fee schedule.

The written proposal should be limited to 15 pages, 8-112 x H. single sided.

Selection Process - Special Instructions

The District reserves the right to make the selection based on the State School Building Program and District standards. The District reserves the right to change the process and/or modify the selection procedures. All selection decisions by the District are final. Any direct contact on this selection process should be made only through [insert Distract Name and Contact Name]. Contact with other District employees or board members could be cause for disqualification from the selection process.

Sample Interview Questions for Architectural Services

  1. Provide a brief summary of scope and dollar amount of previous school design projects.
  2. Describe the scope of services your firm provides.
  3. Describe the manner and method in which your firm manages a project when it gets to the construction stage.
  4. What do you see as your role and responsibility in project coordination from inception to construction completion?
  5. Do you provide constructability and value engineering of your projects, and how do you approach constructability of your firm's plans?
  6. What is your definition of errors and omissions? (When is the architect responsible and when is the owner expected to pay for the changes?)
  7. How do you budget your fee to ensure that there is an adequate allowance for supervision on the construction end of the project? (Would you be willing to accept a retention provision to ensure adequate resources being available to complete the project?)
  8. Which project architect will be assigned?
  9. Who are your favorite clients to work with and why?
  10. What steps does your firm have available to reduce the cost of school construction in accordance with SB 50?
  11. Do you have anything to add?
