Revised Water Damage Plan

New procedure used to clean up water spills due to floods in classrooms:

  • Remove all furniture, cabinets, any item attached to the walls, or in the classroom to a dry room.

  • Inspect the room for any evidence of mold or mildew using a moisture meter, determine if floors or walls are holding moisture.

  • Clean all water using a wet/dry vacuum for the tile, for carpet use a carpet extractor.

  • If you find any evidence of mold or mildew contact the business office or the district safety officer.

  • DO NOT CLEAN UP MOLD OR MILDEW UNTIL INSTRUCTED TO DO SO.

  • Confer with deputy superintendent and determine if sampling is needed and what type of sampling.

  • Confer with deputy superintendent to repair or replace damaged or flooded materials. i.e. carpets, floor tile, insulation, wallboard, etc...

  • After given direction completely clean all areas that were wet with the proper disinfectant in the proper dilution.

  • After given direction clean all furniture, and cabinets, remove from classroom, any cabinets that were damaged due to water damage will be evaluated and if necessary be disposed of.

  • Use the districts air ventilation equipment to enhance the drying of the classroom.

  • From testing determine what remediation need to be done.

  • Receive Clearance to reoccupy the room from the deputy superintendent.
