CASH To Present at CSBA Conference

C.A.S.H. will once again present a workshop during the California School Boards Association Annual Education Conference.  This year’s topic is:   Envisioning A New School Facilities Program.  The Conference is being held at the San Diego Convention Center, December 3-5, with our workshop on Thursday, December 3 from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. in Room 1B.

Legislature Passes Budget – Education & Facilities Impacts

Last night, the Legislature passed the FY 2014-15 Budget Act and a number of accompanying trailer bills in order to meet the June 15 constitutional deadline. The budget includes $108 billion in General Fund spending and reflects a number of important education policy changes, including an expansion of state-funded preschool and a plan to begin addressing unfunded liabilities in the teacher pension system (CalSTRS). Below is a selection of some of the key education components included in the budget as adopted by the Legislature.

Executive Officer Statement

Lisa Silverman provided updates on the following items:

–          Fund Releases for Priority Funding Apportionments – 103 projects in 44 school districts received apportionments on April 7, 2014.  These districts must submit a valid fund release (Form SAB 50-05) by Monday, July 7, 2014 or be subject to non-participation regulations.

C.A.S.H. Advocates Weigh-In on Governor’s School Facility Proposals

On Thursday May 8th the Senate Budget Subcommittee #1 on Education held a hearing that included the Governor’s budget proposals on Proposition 39, the School Facilities Program (SFP), and the Emergency Repair Program (ERP).  The following is a summary of these budget items that were discussed in committee, as well as C.A.S.H.’s testimony on each item.
